7 DIY face masks to lighten your skin 

Dark and dull skin can be caused by sun exposure, environmental pollution, over usage of makeup, chemical based products etc. No doubt the market is filled with whitening creams and masks, but they can cause many side effects is used on regular basis. I always suggest natural products for healthy skin. Nature always has a solution for every skin problem. These home made masks can help you lighten your skin in a natural way. 

1. Orange mask : 

Oranges are your skin’s best friend, oranges contain vitamin C which help to lighten your skin. It’s been proven that regular consumption of fresh oranges can get your lighter, youthful skin. 

Method : take 2-3 tablespoons of orange juice, and a pinch of turmeric Apply the mixture on your face and neck. Wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes. For best results repeat daily. 

Method : Dry out orange peels, grind the dry orange peels till its powdered. Use one table spoon powder with tablespoon of plain yogurt to make a paste. Apply the paste on your skin and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off with water. Apply the mask for once or twice a week.

2. Gram flour mask : 

This is one of the most ancient and effective way to lighten your skin. 

Method : Take one tablespoon of gram flour and add rose water to make it slightly wet. Apply the mixture on your face and neck. This is also a effective way to remove sun tan, wash it off once the mask is dried. If your skin is dry add milk instead of rose water. 

3. Lemon and honey mask : 

Honey helps to remove dead skin cells, which helps to brighten skin. Lemons are acidic in nature and helps to bleach your skin naturally. 

Method : Cut lemon into half, pour some honey over it, apply the gently squeezing and rubbing lemon directly on your  face. Let the mask stay for 30min. Wash it off with water. (May not be suitable for sensitive skin)

4. Aloe vera mask : 

Aloe vera helps regenerate new cells and rebuild damaged tissue, it can also alleviate hyperpigmentation and restore your skin’s original color. the cooling effect of aloe vera helps regenerate new cells and rebuild damaged tissue, this can also treat sun burnt skin. 

Method : Cut the outer layers of an aloe vera leaf. with the help of a spoon, remove the jelly-like substance. Apply the gel thoroughly on your skin leaving it on for about 30 minutes, and then wash it off with water. You can also use store brought aloevera gel. 

5. Papaya honey pack : 

Papaya is believed to contain natural bleaching properties. It also has to the ability to dissolve dead skin cells. Which gives instant glow. Honey has anti bacterial properties. 

Method : mash papaya pieces till a thick paste is formed, add one tablespoon of honey and mix well. Apply the mixture and let it stay for 20-30min. This can be done daily. 

6. Tomatoe & gram flour : 

Method :Take 2 spoons of gram flour and add 2-3 spoons of tomato juice in it. Mix well to make a fine paste. Apply on your face and neck, leave for 20 minutes then wash it off. 

7. Potatoe : 

Potato juice has mild bleaching properties and is rich in vitamin C. This naturally lightens skin by clearing dead skin cells and reduces melanin production preventing dark skin.

Method : Apply the juice by gently rubbing the potato pieces on the dark skin. Leave for 15 – 20 minutes and rinse with water. Repeat this thrice weekly for best results.
