DIY toner recipes for every skin type

Our skin is naturally acidic, normal
pH balance of the skin is between five and six. After cleansing, due to the alkaline nature of soap, the pH balance of skin gets disturbed. so right after cleansing your skin needs to work to restore the balance (and that may result in oil), but using a toner helps to restore this balance quickly. Applying a small amount of toner to a soft cotton ball or pad and gently blotting and wiping your face with it will remove excess oil and give the appearance of smaller pores, however different skin need different ingredients. There are many toners available in the market, but nothing can beat all natural home made toners! 

1. Toner for Oily/Acne prone skin : 

  • 3/4 cup steeped green tea
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

After steeping a green tea bag in hot water, bring the tea to room temperature, discarding the tea bag. Add the apple cider vinegar. You can apply with a cotton ball or spritz with a spray bottle. The green tea is anti-inflammatory and will help with redness and acne, while the apple cider vinegar will bring the pH level of your skin back to a normal level. Store it in refrigerator and use it within 10 days.

2. Toner for dry skin :

  • Rose water
  • Geranium essential oil

You can use store bought or make rose water at home, take 2-3 roses, after removing the petals, submerge them in hot water (not boiling water) after 20-30min you will notice the petals have lost the colour, strain the water and let it cool down to room temperature. just add a few drops of geranium oil for added hydration. Be sure to shake the spray bottle well before spritzing this toner on dry skin. Refrigerate and use the toner for a week.

3. Toner for sensitive skin : 

  • Rose water 

You can use the above method to make The rose water or get it from store. This will not only balance the skin but it’s soothing and hydrating for irritated, sensitive skin. If you make your own rose water you will want to store in the refrigerator and use within 1 week. 

4. Anti ageing Toner : 

  • 1/4 cup green tea 
  • 1/8 cup pure pomegranate juice
  • 1/8 cup filtered water
  • spray bottle

Steep green tea bag in hot water. Let the green tea Cool down to room temperature. dilute pure pomegranate juice with equal parts water. Discard the tea bag and combine green tea with diluted pomegranate juice. pour the toner into a small spray bottle. One of the most refreshing ways to apply toner is to spritz it on all over your face and neck. Store it in a refrigerator and use within 2 weeks.
